REGISTER TO VOTE
In Pennsylvania you must be registered to vote by October 11, 2016 to vote in the upcoming general election. You may now register to vote via an online form here. You can still register to vote using the traditional paper application. To do so, please print, complete, and return the voter registration form by the deadline.
Members of the military, other uniformed services, the Merchant Marine and their eligible family members and all U.S. citizens overseas are able to vote under the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA). For detailed information, visit the website for the Federal Voting Assistance Program, which covers people under the UOCAVA. The Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) is accepted by all states and territories as an application for registration and for absentee ballot. Print and complete the application (be sure to read the instructions for Pennsylvania) , sign and date it, and mail it (with the proper postage) to your Local Election Official. All States and Territories except American Samoa and Guam accept the FPCA.
Voting absentee in Pennsylvania is a 3-step process. First a voter must request/apply for an absentee ballot. Second, once received a voter must complete the absentee ballot. Third, a voter must return that completed ballot via U.S. Mail to their county registrar. You are eligible to vote absentee if you meet one of these criteria. If youre eligible to vote absentee please download and complete this Absentee Ballot request form. Your registrar must receive your request form by 5 p.m. on Tuesday November 1, 2016. A valid form of ID is required to apply for an absentee ballot if you are a first time voter. Your completed absentee ballot must be received by your registrar by 5 p.m. Friday November 4, 2016.
VOTING ON ELECTION DAY
Election day is November 8, 2016 and polls in Pennsylvania will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.. Before you cast your ballot, be sure to research your candidates and where they stand on issues important to Pennsylvania. Voters in Pennsylvania are required to bring a valid form of ID if they are a first time voter at their precinct. To find your polling place, click here.
